Beach Kabaddi World Cup 2025 to Debut in Port Dickson, Malaysia This September
Port Dickson, Malaysia – The scenic coastal city of Port Dickson is set to welcome the inaugural Beach Kabaddi World Cup from September 23 to 28, 2025, marking a historic milestone for the sport. Organized under the patronage of World Kabaddi and supported by the Malaysia Kabaddi Federation (MKF), the championship will take place at the picturesque Glory Beach Resort.
Indian-based sports management company Olivereth Pvt. Ltd. has been appointed as the official event manager, ensuring world-class organization and execution.

23 Nations to Compete in Malaysia
The tournament will witness 23 countries battling it out for glory.

  • Men’s category: 20 national teams, including India, Pakistan, China, USA, Australia, Egypt, Chinese Taipei, England, Sierra Leone, and Kenya.
  • Women’s category: 16 teams, with participation from Malaysia, India, Pakistan, New Zealand, China, Nepal, Tanzania, England, Canada, and Argentina.
    The final list of teams and the official draw will be confirmed in Port Dickson next month.

A Landmark Moment for Beach Kabaddi
This is the second time Malaysia will host a major Kabaddi event, following the World Cup Kabaddi (National Style) in Melaka in 2019. According to World Kabaddi President Dr. Osama Said Hashem, the Beach Kabaddi World Cup is part of the federation’s mission to promote the sport across all three formats – National Style (Asian Style), Circle Kabaddi, and Beach Kabaddi.
“This version of the game has its own charm and energy. We believe it will attract a whole new generation of players and fans,” said Dr. Osama.

A Boost for Sports Tourism
Dato Mustapha bin Nagoor, Executive Member of the Negeri Sembilan State Legislative Assembly, expressed pride in hosting the event:
“This championship is more than just a sporting event—it’s a sports tourism opportunity. With over 400 athletes from 23 countries, Port Dickson will be buzzing with international visitors.”
The tournament is also expected to broadcast live worldwide, including in India, where Kabaddi remains the second-most popular sport after cricket. Efforts are underway to expand telecast coverage to Europe, the Americas, and Africa.

92 Matches, Independence Day Finale
A total of 92 matches will be played over five days.

Malaysia’s Commitment to Kabaddi
MKF President Dr. Paul Selvam Devadoss, also Co-chairman of the tournament, emphasized that hosting the Beach Kabaddi World Cup is an opportunity to further develop the sport in Malaysia.
“This will help our players gain international exposure and experience. At least 10 Malaysian Technical Officials will be officiating during the event,” he added.
